Given the rapid developments in human societies in recent decades, urban spaces have become the main focus of citizens' daily lives. City dwellers spend a significant portion of their time in these spaces, and this has caused visual elements and environmental graphics to have a greater impact on people's biological experience and mindset than ever before. In addition to their aesthetic function, environmental graphics play a fundamental role in public information and education and can directly affect citizens' behavior. One area where this capability is highlighted is urban waste management. Increasing human needs and the expansion of the consumption of various goods and packaging create a large volume of waste, the management of which is of great importance from an environmental and social perspective. This research seeks to answer the question "Why and how do environmental graphics play a role in informing waste management?" The research method is descriptive-analytical and the data was collected through library resources and a review of successful examples in this field. For data analysis, the SWOT strategic model was used to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, and Rasht city was selected as a case study. The findings indicate that environmental graphics, by relying on visual language and using modern digital tools in public spaces, can increase citizens' awareness of the importance of waste management. This visual tool is also able to change citizens' attitudes and behavior towards active participation. Finally, it can be said that environmental graphics not only help improve the quality of the urban environment, but also act as an effective tool in the service of sustainable development, promoting social responsibility, and improving citizens' sense of belonging to the place.
