The activity of the calligraphers and painters has been expanded with the revival Iranian cinema since 1327 AH. Mohsen Davallou, Aliakbar Sdeghi and Abbas Mazaheri were the most well-known placards designer artists in the 1340 AH. Mohsen Davallou was active in both caricature and designing posters for cinema and creating sets for theaters. Many movie posters in the late decade 30s and 40s are remembered with Davallou’s signature. This artist had acquired movie posters in the decade 40s. He designed nearly 100 posters cinema marquee in this decade and limited his activities in the field of designing movie posters after publishing the Caricature magazine. His last movie posters were designed in 1349 AH. This current study has been done with the aim of introducing Mohsen Davallou and takes a look at this artist’s activity in designing placard and movie posters and then seeks to find answer of the question: what are the features of Mohsen Davallou’s movie posters? The research was conducted based on descriptive- analytical and is developmental in terms of purpose and qualitative in terms of date. The data of this research is based on written sources and reliable internet sources. The results of this research show that Mhsen Davallou’s movie posters were produced by relying on power of the hand, attention to details, creative typography and visual element of the actors’ face and body.
