A review of the educational and research situation of art in the country's higher education system shows the existence of obstacles and challenges that have caused the weakness of art development in various aspects. Considering the brilliant background of Iranian art and the rich potential of this land in improving the educational and research levels of art in the contemporary era, the question arises as to what obstacles are involved in the growth and development of art in the country's higher education system?
It seems that the weakness of the management and supervisory working groups of the Ministry of Science in formulating laws, directing and monitoring the performance of art higher education centers in the country has played an important role in creating this decline; Among these problems, we can point out the lack of updating the laws and curriculum of educational courses in different educational levels, which is not in sync with global developments and does not meet the needs of the society. Also, the failure to explain the position of the original and valuable work of art as the most important scientific achievement of the activity of the faculty member of the art department is that it is not the first priority in the regulations for evaluating and monitoring the performance of the lecturer. This defect has caused the performance of art department faculty members to be evaluated with scales appropriate to the nature of non-art groups and to pay less attention to the professional activity of the artist, who has an increasing role in the development of art in the higher education system. The weakness of supporting the overseas activities of artists to participate in prestigious scientific and artistic events, as well as the lack of international art publications with a prestigious scientific profile, as the most important scientific media in promoting the achievements of contemporary Iranian art in the international arena, are other shortcomings that are evident.
